The redevelopment of the Kettwiger Triebwerk site took place against the background of its special history. The old buildings have been extensively renovated and modernized. Kettwig used to be a city of its own and in 1975 became part of the city of Essen. But the special flair has remained: The beautiful nature around Kettwig is a well-known and very popular recreational area, in the middle of the Ruhr area and by the river Ruhr.
